It was the headline of every newspaper: Hospitals, major organizations and government offices across the globe had been hit by a massive wave of cyberattacks that seized control of computers until the victims paid a ransom. With more than 230,000 infected PCs in more than 150 countries, it was believed to be the biggest attack of its kind ever recorded.
